My first step in studying Moroni is to identify his place in the Book of Mormon and what events he was involved in. Fortunately lds.org has a great electronic resource that takes almost all the work out of this task, so I can get on with the actual study and still do all the rest of the stuff I have to do every day. Try The Guide to the Scriptures. It's written with complete narrative sentences and has hot links, so it's way cooler than trying to use the paper Triple Combination Index and Topical Guide.
